Spotify for Creators

Spotify for Creators was an idea for a Spotify x NLG Hackathon / ideation session that only lasted 3 hours. The task was to propose an extension or additional feature for Spotify that would improve the lives of students on campus at KTH, Stockholm.

The idea

Our focus area was derived from several group members experience with trying to find high quality royalty free music for projects and personal media pieces. The common pitfalls of trawling through malware riddled sites and low quality tracks that didn’t satisfy exactly what they were looking for or extremely high price tags for individual tracks were identified and Spotify seemed positioned to solve this problem.

Our team were all international students, and as such we had all recently attended a welcome ceremony in which the University’s orchestra had played. We realised that the University itself must be producing plenty of high quality music across genres that students would be happy to allow other students to use in projects.

Prototyping

Due to the time constraint, we chose to create a simple prototype that could convey the merit of the idea. We decided to use FramerX as it had recently been released and we wanted to gain some more experience with it.

Final thoughts
